History
A group of thirteen people had a shared dream. They knew that their small lake community lacked one very important institution, a library. After a “barn raising," a new library consisting of 600 square feet, came into being. It was the smallest library in Texas. In the mid 90’s the library moved to a different location- a converted doctor’s office. On April 11th, 2006, 16,000 volumes were moved into our new 3,600 square foot library. Our buildings have changed but our dedication to our patrons has not.

POLICIES
INTERLIBRARY LOAN POLICY
Interlibrary Loan Requests;
Materials from the collections of other public, academic, and special libraries may be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan. Patrons residing in our library's designated service area may request that the library attempt to locate books or copies of journal or periodical articles that are not available in the Tawakoni Area public Library.
We do not lend rare or fragile items, audio-visual materials or items in high demand. We do not lend genealogy, or items designated as reference in the catalog. We are under no obligation to lend materials.
There is a limit of five open requests at one time per patron. An item may be borrowed one time within a three-month period. Borrower pays return shipping costs.
Interlibrary loan materials cannot be renewed and those materials returned late will be assessed a fine of $2.00 per day, per book. Patrons who fail to return materials borrowed on their behalf will be charged the cost of the item (as determined by our library), plus a $10.00 processing fee. Patrons who request an item through interlibrary loan and fail to pick it up after notification by the library, will be assessed a fee of $3.00 for each unclaimed title.
Borrowers are asked to sign the following statement:
"I understand that as an interlibrary loan borrower, I am responsible for:
- Any charges assessed by the lending library, whether or not I choose to use the material.
-Overdue fines of $2.00 per day as assessed by Tawakoni Area Public Library and additional charges/fines/fees imposed by the lending institution.
-Replacement cost plus processing fees of $10.00 if the materials are lost or damaged.
-Compliance with the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code)."
